Peter's paralegal, Tana Toren-Woeppel, has over 24 years experience in the paralegal profession, 14 of which have been at the Law Office of Peter Leander. Tana is an active member of the Paralegal Section of the Montana State Bar. She works diligently to apply her experience to each case, working with each client on a personal level.
Peter is licensed to practice in both Montana and Arizona.
Peter Leander has over 30 years of legal experience, including major criminal & civil trials ranging from death penalty homicide, federal homicide, white collar crimes and federal and state drug conspiracies, DUIs, civil trials involving personal injury, and construction disputes.
Peter represents youth and young adults who have suffered abuse or neglect while attending youth homes or camps and wilderness homes/camps. He also represents military veterans suffering from PTSD. Peter is committed to achieving the best resolution for each client so they may rebuild their lives and go forward.
Peter has been admitted to the Montana and Arizona Supreme Courts, the United States Supreme Court, the Federal Ninth Circuit District Court, and Court of Appeals.
Peter served on the Board of Directors of the Arizona Attorneys for Criminal Justice. He has also acted as a civil mediator.
Peter attended the Arizona State University School of Law. After graduating in 1981, he practiced in Phoenix for 11 years before moving to Bigfork, Montana, where he currently resides and offices his practice.
Peter is an active member of the Montana Trial Lawyers Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Montana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He also plays an active role within his community, by assisting and overseeing events and organizations which focus on improving the quality of life and environment in Montana, such as Community Foundation for a Better Bigfork, the Swan Lakers and the Bigfork Food Bank.
In his spare time, Peter enjoys participating in triathlons, adventure racing, and fly fishing. He also enjoys traveling with his wife, daughter.
